ACFL Division 3 vs Mullingar Shamrocks
On Sunday last we hosted Mullingar Shamrocks in Round 6 of the league. Played in ideal conditions, Bun got off to a great start when Brian Maguire fisted over Barry O Mara’s free. Barry O Mara kicked a point either side of three Shamrock’s points. At half time the score saw Shamrocks lead 0:05 to 0:02.
Bun started the second half with much more intent and while Shamrocks got the first point of the half Simon Moorhead replied with a great point from distance. Then came the key score of the game. Bun looked to have found the opportunity to kick a point but were turned over before Shamrocks worked the ball upfield to find the bottom corner despite the best efforts of Alan Maguire.
Facing a 7 point deficit, Bun set about reducing the arrears and to their credit put in a great performance to get back into the game. First up to score was Barry O Mara who clipped over a fine point from play on the right after a good run from Andy Whitney.
Fintan Finnan was next on the score sheet with a fine point off his right after a good ball from Noel Yourell. Conor Newman then ventured forward to kick an unbelievable point from play to bring the deficit to two points.
Garvan Dolan then kicked a huge score from distance to leave just one between the sides. However, Shamrocks got the insurance score with some fine football to kick the next point to leave two in it with time almost up. Bun did engineer a late free but Barry O Mara’s effort was blocked on the line and with that came the final whistle.
Team: Alan Maguire, Conor Newman, Joe Tormey, Gavin Lyons, Luke Kiernan, Simon Moorhead, Davy Newman, John Kiernan, Aidan Finnan, Noel Yourell, Andy Whitney, Mark Donnelly, Ken Conroy, Brian Maguire & Barry O Mara. Féile Winners!!!!
Inny Shamrocks are the inaugural winners of the U15 Division 3 Féile competition, following a titanic battle with St Mary's Rochfortbridge on Sunday afternoon in Cusack Park! This followed two great wins in Ballynacargy on Saturday versus Delvin / St Paul's and Millmore Gaels. Well done lads on a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations to all the coaches and players on a fantastic win. This is a culmination of a collective effort from both Ballynacargy Gaa and Bunbrosna GAA for the last number of years. Well done to all on a fantastic occasion.
Leinster Scór na nÓg Final
Congratulations to our Instrumental Musicians, Béibhinn Nic Gabhann, Anna Dunleavy, and Aoife Dunleavy who represented their club and county in the Leinster Scór na nÓg Final in the Wexford Opera House on Sunday. They performed brilliantly on the day but were not to get the nod from the judges in what was a very competitive category. Well done on making it to the Leinster Final.
Underage Football
Saturday saw the return to Go Games for our underage teams and first up were our brilliant U9s who hosted Milltownpass and two teams from Mullingar Shamrocks.
Most of this team were stepping up to U9 for the first time and they played 3 great games and had great fun. Many thanks to both clubs for travelling. The team are really looking forward to the rest of the season.
Our U11s hosted Milltownpass and played some wonderful football in a free flowing match played in great conditions. This team has been together for a few seasons now and it showed in the flowing moves and great scores that were taken. Many thanks to Milltownpass for travelling and playing such a sporting game of football.
Inny Shamrocks U13
