Club Lotto

No winner of Club Lotto on Sunday. Numbers drawn were 9, 12, 13 & 28. 5 Match 3 - Louis Fagan, Suzanne Delamere, Caroline Finnan, Finian Newman & Cecelia Finucane. Sellers Prize - Jimmy McCormack. Next Draw on Sunday 10th September. Jackpot €13,500.

We are very grateful for the ongoing contribution we receive towards our Lotto from Club members and supporters, far and wide, without which we would not be able to run our Club.

Junior Championship Round 5

We made the short journey to Cusack Park on Sunday last to take on Ballycomoyle in the final group game of the Championship. A win would have consolidated our position in the knockout stages while defeat would mean we were relying on results elsewhere to ensure our position in the last eight.

Bun started brightly and Noel Yourell got the first score on the board after a smart run forward into space. Aidan Finnan and Barry O Mara kicked two sublime points from the terrace side into the apartments end to give Bun a healthy lead after the early exchanges.

A fine Darragh Lyons effort from the outside of the right foot sailed between the posts before Ballycomoyle hit a purple patch. A free and a mark halved the deficit before two points from play tied the game up at four points each after 15 minutes.

Ken Conroy edged Bun back in front before Ballycomoyle responded again with a free. Barry O Mara then kicked a free for Bun before Simon Moorehead & Fintan Finnan then had the final scores of the half, Mooreheads a fisted effort after a good run in from the Endline while Finnan’s was a great kick from distance. The half time score was 0:08 to 0:05.

Bun started the second half brightly but couldn’t shake Ballycomoyle who battled gamely to keep in touch. A Barry O Mara free kept Bun in front before Ballycomoyle got a sucker punch goal to throw the game wide open. They built on this and kicked the next two points to take the lead.

Bun responded well with Noel Yourell scoring a fine point after great build play. The game became a dog fight in the final minutes and Ballycomoyle got the winning score to ensure their place in the Quarter Finals.

Luck didn’t completely desert Bun however as a St. Joseph’s one point victory over St. Paul’s ensured our place in the last eight. Bun will be bitterly disappointed not to have won the game. They created plenty of scoring chances and improved conversion rates will be needed to advance further.

Team: Alan Maguire, Gavin Lyons, Ronan Scally, Luke Kiernan, Matthew Hope, Conor Lyons, Noel Yourell, Andrew Whitney, Simon Moorehead, John Kiernan, Barry O Mara, Aidan Finnan, Ken Conroy, Darragh Lyons & Fintan Finnan.
