Championship Quarter Final

We travelled to Killucan on Sunday to take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the Quarter Final of the Championship. On a bright day for football, the game was pushed back by half an hour to account for the opening game going to extra time.

Once proceedings got underway it was a slow opening twenty minutes with the score line reading 0:01 to 0:01. Barry O Mara opened the scoring with a point from a free. O Mara would stretch the lead to one when he fired over from play after a fine team move which led to Darragh Lyons’ cross field ball finding O Mara in space.

In a nip and tuck first half, Shamrocks found their range with two points from play before a two point effort gave them the lead. Peter Tormey responded with a point from a free after O Mara was fouled. 0:04 0:03 at half time.

Shamrocks started the second half brightly and kicked 1:02 without reply. The goal was a fine team move and the two pointer that followed stretched their lead to six.

Bun refused to wilt and set about the fight back. Aidan Finnan found the net with fifteen to go and Peter Tormey was desperately unlucky not to find the net from the resulting kick out. Shamrocks weathered this storm and responded with a couple of frees.

Another Aidan Finnan point and a Darragh Lyons free kept the score board ticking over before Shamrocks kicked a two pointer from a free which killed the game. O Mara kicked a late free but it was in vein as Shamrocks won out. It finished 1:13 to 1:08.

A big team effort fell short at the quarter final hurdle this year. Thanks to all the lads who put their shoulder to the wheel for the year and well done to all the players who made their adult debuts this year.

Underage Coaching

Bunbrosna GAA and LGFA Underage Coaching for boys and girls ages 3 - 10 came a close this weekend for 2025.

We had a fun session on Saturday to end the season and everyone earned their ice creams!!!

We are absolutely delighted with the enthusiasm, attitude and skills displayed by every group - Boys & Girls Nursery, U8 Girls, U8 Boys, U10 Girls and U10 Boys - throughout the whole year. They were fantastic ambassadors for our Club at every stage, whether at training, Blitzes or events. We would like to congratulate and thank every child and we look forward to seeing you all next year!!! We are very proud of you all!!!

A special word of thanks to all our coaches, helpers and parents throughout the year, without whom the coaching sessions would not be possible. Thank you all!

A special thanks to Alaine and O'Reillys Mace Ballinalack for their generous donation towards the ice creams enjoyed on Saturday!

Inny Shamrocks U14

Hard to luck to our Inny Shamrock U14 team who bowed out of this year’s Division 2 Championship after a narrow defeat to Mullingar Shamrocks on Wednesday evening in Springfield.

Two evenly matched teams played out a tight and thrilling contest where the Inny lads led by two points at half time. A purple patch in the middle of the second half for the hosts had them in the lead which they held until the full time whistle.

We would like to congratulate these young men on a great 2025 season which included winning a league title and competing at their highest level to date with a strong showing in Division 2 of the championship. There is lots more to come from this group in the future! A huge word of thanks to the coaching team of two Tommys, JP and Paul for all their hard work during the year.

Team: Cian Murphy, Oisin Clarke, Jack Cahill, Michael Reynolds, Seamus Clarke, Liam Doyle, Harry Brennan, Oisin Keena, Patrick Wallace, Thomas O'Hora, Aaron Nally, Sam Maher, Cormac Molloy, Zack Timouni, Olly Raeside, Thomas Cafferky, Owen Nally, Peter Whelan, Ciaran Wallace, Donal Keena, William Connolly, Shane Kelly (inj).
