Division 3 vs Maryland

We hosted Maryland in Round 4 of the league on Saturday. This was another good run out for the lads as they build their match fitness and for the younger players to adjust to adult football levels. Maryland ran out 1:14 to 0:09 winners.

Team: Alan Manning, Eoin McGowan, Simon Moorehead, Ronan Scally, Matthew Hope, Davey Newman, Finian Newman, Aidan Finnan, John Kiernan, Luke Kiernan, Gavin Lyons, Enda Newman, Barry O’ Mara, Darragh Lyons & Cian Tighe. Subs: Tommy Murphy, Conor Newman, William Medforth, Gordon Medforth, Brian Maguire, Kenny Conroy & Paul Connaughton.

Division 7 vs Caulry

On Sunday morning, we travelled to Mount Temple to take on Caulry in Round 2 of the league. Played in woeful weather conditions, both sides are to be complemented for playing football in what was at times, very heavy wind and rain.

Again this was an excellent opportunity for some of our younger players to get game time at adult football. Brian McGowan made his first start of the year and had a fine game at wing back while Dean O’ Brien, Oisin Finn put in solid performances in what was their second game in this division.

Luke Kiernan was exceptional throughout the game and he really thrived in his midfield role, getting on lots of ball and creating plenty of chances. Darragh Lyons and Kevin Mitchell both showed their class with some excellent scores, Mitchell clipping one off his ‘weaker’ left foot. Liam Mitchell had a very good game in goals and pulled off a string of fine saves. Caulry ran out three point winners but this was a great run out for the lads. Final score was 1:11 to 1:08.

Team: Liam Mitchell, Conor Newman, Dean O’ Brien, Eoin McGowan, Andy Whitney, Brian McGowan, Luke Kiernan, Gavin Lyons, Cian Tighe, Kevin Mitchell, Darragh McCormack, Darragh Lyons & Oisin Finn. Subs: Brian Maguire & Enda Newman.

Inny Shamrocks U14s

Well done to Inny Shamrock U14s who got their season off to a winning start with a win over CFCW on Wednesday evening last.

Inny Shamrocks U16s

Monday evening saw a return to competitive action for our underage teams with the Inny Shamrock U16s playing St Paul's/Delvin in Clonmellon. Despite some good passages of play, we came out second best against a very strong home side. Best of luck to players and coaches for the year ahead

Inny Shamrocks Minors

Hard luck to Inny Shamrocks minors who lost out narrowly on Friday night in Bun to Milltownpass in the first round of the league. A very young minor team played some great football, only losing out to a late penalty on a scoreline of 3:10 to 3:07. Well done to players and management.
