Féile 2026

Inny Shamrocks contested Division 3 of the Westmeath Feile for 2026 over the weekend. Consisting of 14 teams, this was by some distance the biggest division in the competition and was closely contested between many evenly matched teams. Inny's group games were held in Tyrellspass on Saturday morning on their extremely impressive new pitch (which is a credit to all involved).

Sitting out the first game, Inny commenced their group with a game against Tyrrellspass. After a strong start, Inny pulled away to an impressive win, managing to keep the opposition scoreless during the shortened game format (12 minutes per half). With a brief 10 minute turn around between games, Inny were quickly in action again against Milltownpass. Choosing to rest a number of players, we were run very close by Milltownpass before eventually running out winners by just 1 point on a scoreline of 2.3 (Inny) to 2.2 (Milltownpass). With two wins from two, we took our place in area final against Tyrrellspass. Despite a relatively comfortable win in the first game against the same opposition, a very different Tyrrellspass emerged for the Saturday final and they got up to speed in the final far more quickly than us, racing into a 4 point lead thanks to an early goal. With two consecutive games in the legs, our lads were sluggish in comparison to our opponents. However, with cool heads and patience, we slowly clawed our way back on the scoreboard with a string of points to take the draw on a scoreline of 5 points (Inny) to 1.02 (Tyrrellspass). Despite playing their third game in a row, the Inny boys dug deep and pulled away in extra time to record a victory on a scoreline of 1.10 (Inny) to 1.3 (Tyrrellspass).

After emerging from Tyrrellspass as the group winners, the county finals in Rosemount awaited on Sunday morning. Facing Tubberclair in the semi final, a strong start again resulted in a win for Inny on a scoreline of 3.9 (Inny) to 1.01 (Tubberclair) with a number of players registering on the scoreboard in a very good team performance. In what seemed inevitable, we then faced our near neighbours Multyfarnham in the county final. Again, a strong start with two goals in the first moves of the game meant that we were able to retain possession for long periods of the game but also committing players forward when needed. The final whistle was greeted with great excitement with the win secured on a scoreline of 2.3 (Inny) to 0.2 (Multy).

Afterwards, Paul Doolin presented the trophy to a delighted Inny Shamrocks captain (Oisin Keena) and his team mates. This was a wonderful collective performance by the panel of 24 players who all played their part over the weekend. The team is now rewarded with a trip to Derry for the national Feile in June. Well done all!!

Inny Shamrocks U12

Well done to the Inny Shamrock under 12 boys that played a great game against St. Lomans on Friday evening last. Some great football on display!

Inny Shamrocks U14

Well done to the Inny Shamrock U14s players and coaches who had a good win away to St. Paul's on Monday evening. A great display from the full panel with lots of players showing huge improvements early in the season.

Inny Shamrocks U16

Well done to the Inny Shamrock U16 lads who ground out a narrow 1 point win over Milltownpass on Wednesday evening in Ballynacargy.

Fair to say most of the lads were unrecognisable after and will be scrubbing muck off themselves for the night! Behind at half time, the boys dug deep and just got over the line with a late goal.

We would like to thank Milltownpass firstly for travelling and playing their part in a very tough encounter. But secondly, we would like to thank them for facilitating us in refixing the game for Wednesday evening after we were short numbers over the Easter break. It is much appreciated by our players and coaches.
