200 Club Draw
We held our first 200 Club Draw on Friday night last in Tormey’s and the lucky winners of the €1000 were Andy & Nicola Whitney. Congratulations to you both.
We are blown away by the support of our 200 Club Draw. All 200 tickets are now sold and we express our thanks to all who purchased a ticket. We also offer a massive well done to all our ticket sellers who put in a mighty effort over the last 6 weeks to ensure we sold all tickets before the first draw.
All money raised from the 200 Club Draw, together with Sports Capital Funding, will go towards our ongoing developments. This year we plan to purchase a score board, upgrade the lighting facilities and develop access points at the Clubhouse. More details on these to follow.
ACFL Division 3 vs Kilbeggan
We hosted Kilbeggan on Tuesday last in the rearranged opening round of the league. On a sharp, cold and windy evening, both sides played some excellent football at times and the end result of 2:11 to 2:11 was probably a fair result, although both teams will think they done enough to win the game.
Kilbeggan started strongly and scored a goal after 3 minutes. Ronan Scally ventured up the field to fire Bun’s opening point to cut the deficit but Kilbeggan 3 points to lead 1:03 to 0:01 after 15 minutes.
Brian Maguire got Bun’s second point from play from a tight angle after he was found with a great long ball in from Luke Kiernan. Kilbeggan responded with a two pointed effort as they stretched their lead. Cian Tighe responded with a brilliant two point free after Barry O Mara was fouled on the arc. Kilbeggan responded again though and led 1:06 to 0:04.
Bun finished the last 10 minutes of the opening half however. They won key turnovers and started to attack their opponents with pace. Brian Maguire finished off a brilliant team move to the net and with a tidy finish. Luke Kiernan then hit two points from play in quick succession to bring the sides level before a quickly taken 45 found Finian Newman in space to fire over to give Bun the lead at the break 1:07 to 1:06.
As in the opening half, Kilbeggan started brightly, scoring 1:02 in the opening five minutes to regain the lead. Bun wouldn’t panic though and Brian Maguire got his second point of the game with a fine effort off his right. Ronan Scally also followed up with his second with an inspirational score off his left foot.
Andy Whitney replaced Cian Tighe in the 45th minute and he took 3 minutes to make his impact felt with he got his hand to a long delivery to guide it to the net to level the game. Kilbeggan would score two quick points to fire them ahead with five to play but Bun responded in style.
With 3 minutes remaining, Whitney fired over a fine point from play before Kenny Conroy was desperately unlucky with a two point effort that tailed wide just at the post. With a minute remaining Aidan Finnan fired over a free from just inside the arc to leave the sides level 2:11 to 2:11. Mick Gordon sounded his full time whistle moments later.
Team: Tommy Murphy, Conor Newman, Simon Moorehead, Ronan Scally, Gavin Lyons, Dave Newman, Finian Newman, Gordon Medforth, John Kiernan, Luke Kiernan, Aidan Finnan, Ken Conroy, Cian Tighe, Brian Maguire & Barry O Mara. Subs: Andy Whitney for C. Tighe, Liam Mitchell, Oisin Finn, Dean O Brien, Joe Tormey & Paul Connaughton.
Footnote: We wish a speedy recovery to Kilbeggan corner back, Mel Kiernan, who sustained an unfortunate injury early in the game last Tuesday. We hope to see you back on the field soon Mel.

Congratulations to the Westmeath Senior Camogie team who qualified for the Intermediate Leinster Camogie Final when they put in a brilliant display to beat Meath in Cusack Park on Saturday last on a score line of 1:10 to 0:11. Well done to Barry O Mara and the Clann Gaels girls on the panel.

Go Games Blitz
We had our first official Go Games outing of the year on Saturday, making the short journey over to our neighbours Multy on Saturday morning.
Our U8s played 2 brilliant games. Showing some excellent skills with our older players looking very comfortable and some fantastic debutants on the day as well!!
Our U10s lined out after that and we were delighted to field two teams with 18 players togged out. The boys played three very competitive games and are improving with every game and there was great examples of team work and individual skill on the day! A special word of thanks to the equally committed parents of both groups for making training and matches!!
Inny Shamrocks U14
Well done to the Inny Shamrocks U14s who recorded a good win over St. Mary's Rochfortbridge last Wednesday evening in Bunbrosna. Inny had some great passages of play in the first half to be comfortably ahead at half time.
However, the Rochfortbridge boys dug deep in the second half to close the gap during a very entertaining second half. Well done players and coaches.
Inny Shamrocks U16
Our U16 lads continued their league program last Monday evening with a battling performance against Cill Oige in Castledaly. Despite being ahead for most of the game, the concession of 2 late goals meant Cill Oige took home both points on offer.
Our lads worked hard all evening against a well organised home defence and took some great scores. Well done boys.
