Club Lotto will take place next Sunday at 12:00pm in the Old Dressing Rooms for anyone that would like to attend. Our Lotto Jackpot is now at €3,400. It continues to be our primary source of revenue to fund the day to day running of the club.

Congratulations to the Fulham family, Rathowen, who were our latest winners of €1,000 in our 200 Club Draw. Thanks to Hughie Tormey for allowing us to host our draw on Friday night. Our next draw will take place at the end of August.

We travelled to Multyfarnham on Monday last to take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the opening round of the Clarkes Bar Junior Championship. On a fine evening for football the opening half was a tense affair with scores at a premium. 

Shamrocks opened the scoring with a point from play before they scored from a free. This was quickly followed by a third score for them to open up a three point lead. Darragh Lyons opened Buns' account with a fine point from play after good work by Barry O Mara and Ken Conroy. Lyons followed up with another point from a free to reduce the deficit to one as Bun started to settle into the game.

Shamrocks scored the next two points before O Mara got off the mark with a trademark effort off his right. A fine team move involving Conroy, Lyons and Aidan Finnan resulted in Luke Kiernan firing to the net to give Bun the lead for the first time. On the stroke of half time Shamrocks levelled the game with a free.

The second half started brightly for Bun and a neatly worked 45 saw O Mara set up Conroy to fire over a neat point with his left foot. This was as good as it would get for Bun though as Shamrocks took hold of this game and would not relinquish until the final whistle.

They levelled the game with a point from play before they scored the only two pointer of the game. They reeled over a further 1:07 without reply over the next twenty minutes to take a firm hold of the game. Darragh Lyons and Caolan Fulham fired over for Bun in between a second Shamrocks goal. At the full time whistle the score read 2:15 to 1:06.

This was a disappointing result for Bun who will hope to bounce back next weekend in Round 2 when they take on St. Joseph’s. Despite the poor second half showing there were plenty of positives from the first half performance to build on.

All roads lead to Belfast this week for the All Ireland Fleadh. Bun will travel in fine numbers, as for the first time in our history, we have 5 entries competing at All Ireland level. This is a testament to all the competitors & mentors for the hours of practice they have put in, in preparation ahead of next weekend's competition.

Bunbrosna Scór would like to thank everyone for their support on behalf of the Bunbrosna Dancers with fundraising in the run up to competition. 

A tough game for our U12 lads on Friday evening against a very good Tyrrellspass GAA Football Club. With a number of our U12s away, a big well done to our U10 lads who stepped up without hesitation and had no problem togging out. Great commitment and brilliant to see the younger players stepping up. Well done to all our lads and big thanks to the coaches and parents!

Inny Shamrocks Minors  take on Garrycastle in the Championship on Friday at 7:00pm in Ballynacargy.

Well done to Seamus Clarke who represented Westmeath at U14 level on Saturday at their tournament in Wicklow involving teams from Wicklow, Wexford, Carlow and Westmeath. 

Seamus played four matches as Westmeath Maroons reached the tournament final where they lost out to a strong Wicklow team in what was their last game this year. 

Well done Seamus and team and many thanks to the coaches who looked after the team all year. We were delighted as a club to host the development squad sessions in recent weeks.

Our G4M&O team continues to go from strength to strength this season. We have been delighted to welcome new faces over the past few weeks and encourage anyone thinking about playing to come along and give it a go.

As we continue our Reeling in the Years of Bunbrosna, we take a trip back to the early 1960s with this fantastic team photograph (see attached). It captures a proud era in the history of Bunbrosna GAA and the players who represented the club with great pride, commitment and community spirit.
