Junior Championship Relegation Play Off

We travelled to Caulry on Sunday to take on Moate in the Relegation Play Off. This was not the plan for the team at the start of the year under the guidance of Danny, Carole and Darren and in what was a disappointing year for our us, we bowed out of the Junior 1 grade and we will now battle it out in Junior 2 next year following a 1:18 to 1:07 defeat.

The team were very disappointed at the final whistle at the outcome but it was not down to lack of effort or will to win. The lads have trained hard all year and really responded well to the coaching and leadership of our management team. Numbers were strong thoughtout the year for training and they fought hard and gamely in their matches but Lady luck just went against us a few times this year which ultimately led to our relegation. Sometimes all your hard work is not rewarded in the way it should. However, the table does not lie and at the end of the day, we didn’t get enough points to maintain our status in Junior 1.

As this group have shown throughout all their footballing careers, the only way to face adversity is head on and they will put the shoulder to the wheel next year to turn our fortunes around. The emergence of young talent together with the experienced players will provide the impetus and confidence to go again next year. We wish them well and thank them for their efforts this year. The winter will be long but we have no doubt they will be back refreshed and ready to go again in 2027.

Team: Tommy Murphy, Conor Newman, Simon Moorehead, Ronan Scally, Matt Hope, John Kiernan, Gavin Lyons, Aidan Finnan, Enda Newman, Luke Kiernan, Ken Conroy, Trian Leslie, Caolan Fulham, Darragh Lyons & Barry O Mara. Subs: Mark Donnelly for G. Lyons, Finian Newman for L. Kiernan, Brian Maguire for C. Fulham, Luke Kiernan for B. O Mara, Eoin McGowan for C. Newman, Alan Manning, Paul Connaughton & Dave Newman.

Inny Shamrocks U16

Congratulations to Inny Shamrocks U16s who recorded a narrow 4 point win over near neighbours Multyfarnham on Friday evening in the Championship Semi Final.

There is never much between these two teams and it proved to be another close game this evening with a fightback from Multy in the second half to close the gap to three points before Inny scored the insurance point in the last minute.

Well done to the players and coaches who can now look forward to a championship final against St. Michael's in the coming weeks and thanks to Multy for a good close game. Final score: Inny Shamrocks 1.16 Multyfarnham 2.9.
