Bunbrosna GAA notes Nov 10th, 2019

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM was held in Tormey’s of Bunbrosna on Saturday night last. The large attendance heard detailed report from Mary Finnan, the club secretary. In her report the Secretary reviewed the years activities and successes of our Intermediate team and chronicled the successful league campaign and our progression to the knock-out stages of this year’s Championship. She outlined the great achievements of our Under-Age teams, our Scór participants both Senior and Scór na nÓg and our Rounders teams. She acknowledged the cooperation and help she received from all the committees and players throughout the year and expressed her thanks to everybody concerned.

Our Chairman Martin Tormey in his report spoke of the great sense of pride he had in watching so many people represent the club with such distinction at so many activities throughout the year. He spoke of the work done by so many people to keep the club running smoothly throughout the year. These people work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that we have the best possible facilities and opportunities for all our teams and competitors. He thanked each of the committees who met regularly to plan and carry out all these functions which are so important to the running of the club.

He thanked our sponsors throughout the year and acknowledged that without their help it would not have been possible to offer all the facilities we do. He thanked Hugh Tormey for the use of his premises for meetings and other activities during the year.

He thanked everybody who bought Lotto tickets throughout the year and those who supported the various fundraisers held.

He spoke of the dedication commitment and resolve of players and mentors throughout the year. He commented that on more than one occasion this year when Bunbrosna seemed under pressure that they dug deep and won the day. This never say die attitude is what makes Bunbrosna the club that it is, and he thanked everyone for this. He thanked the management and the backroom team for all their work throughout the year and announced that regrettably our manager Cormac was not able to continue in his role next season. Cormac was thanked for his work, his professionalism and courtesy to everyone during his time with the club and was wished well for the future.

Martin congratulated all those who had married or become engaged throughout the year and he especially welcomed all the future club stalwarts who were born in 2019!

He wished those in the club who were unwell a speedy recovery.

As a mark of respect for those who passed away in 2019 and for those in the club who had been bereaved during the year Martin asked the meeting to stand and observe a minute’s silence. Ar dheis Dé go raibh said uile.

Aidan Finnan in his Treasurer’s report outlined the club finances in a most clear and professional presentation. He invited questions on his report and answered in detail how the various monies were spent throughout the year. He advised that we should always be on the look out for new and exciting ways to generate revenue going forward.

The outgoing committee was returned unopposed for the coming year.
