Astro Turf Pitch

It was a major milestone for the club on Wednesday last as Lloyd from JNC Premier Pitches & Fencing officially handed over the completed Astro Pitch to the club.

This is the culmination of years of planning and work behind the scenes so a big thank you and congratulations to all involved. It has only been possible due to the hard work and dedication of the Club Development Committee and the extraordinary generosity of our supporters, sponsors and friends.

Already it is proving a huge hit with our underage team, rounders, and Gaelic for Mother’s and Others training on it in since it opened.

Junior 1 Championship Round 4

Bunbrosna 1-11 St Joseph’s 0-6

We continued our 2021 Championship season with a home match against St Joseph’s on Saturday evening in near perfect conditions on a pitch which looked resplendent in the Autumn sunshine against the backdrop of our recently completed, magnificent Astro Turf pitch.

Peter Tormey opened our account with a fine point and St Joseph’s replied with two points, one from play and one from a free.

Bunbrosna’s next score came from a move started by David Newman in defence, involving Aidan Finnan and Peter Tormey before Kevin Mitchell slotted it beautifully over the bar. By the tenth minute Daragh Lyons had added his name to the score sheet with a point from a mark.

Both sides traded wides before Daragh sent over from a move started from a 45 awarded to Bunbrosna. Before the water break Kenny Conroy broke through with a superbly finished goal to leave the score Bunbrosna 1-4 to St Joseph’s 0-2 at the end of the first quarter.

We were treated to some excellent football in the second quarter but little by way of scores. Bunbrosna added three points courtesy of Mark Donnelly and a brace from Barry O Mara. Good defensive play by Bunbrosna backs resulted in St Joseph’s not scoring in this quarter. Score at half time was Bunbrosna 1-7 St Joseph’s 0-2.

On the resumption of play both sides traded points before Brian Maguire replaced an injured Kevin Mitchell. Both sides added points beforethe second water break with Bunbrosna’s coming from an an excellent catch and mark from Daragh Lyons.

On the resumption of play Finian Newman fed a long ball to Daragh and he laid it on for Peter Tormey who was on target with another excellent point. Both sides traded points before the end with our final one again coming from Daragh.

While Bunbrosna registered three wides at the end St Joseph’s added a further point to their total leaving the final score Bunbrosna 1-11 St Joseph’s 0-6.

Club Lotto

Condolence

Gaelic for Mothers & Others

Our Mothers and Others gang were delighted to get their first run on our new Astro turf pitch under lights last Wednesday. A huge thanks to Joe Maleady for facilitating the session on the night. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our new Astro pitch is a huge asset to our community and the Mothers and Others group would like to thank all involved in getting this project over the line.

Underage

Hard luck but well done to our Inny Shamrock U17s who contested the Shield Final vs our neighbours Multyfarnham on Sunday in Multy.

Our lads battled hard throughout a very entertaining game but it wasn't to be their day. Congratulations to Multyfarnham on their win. We will have a full report on the game in next weeks notes

This U17 panel trained hard and made great progress this year and we are very proud of them. Thanks to each of the players for their hard work and effort over the year and a special thanks to Simon Moorhead, Anthony Maher and Ryan Maher for their great work as management.

Well done to our U8 girls who played a blitz in Shandonagh on Saturday last. The girls performed brilliantly in games against Ballinacargy, The Downs and Shandonagh. This is our final girl's game thisyear and we are so proud of all the girls who represented the club in the first year of our new LGFA club. Onwards and upwards for 2022!
