All County Football League Division 3

We travelled to Milltownpass on Sunday last to take on the home side in Division 3 of the league. Due to last week's games being cancelled, this was our first game of the year. Both teams battled hard and recorded some fine scores before Milltownpass eventually won out on a scoreline of 4:07 to 3:08.

Bun started with the wind at their backs and got the perfect start when Caolán Fulham finished to the net after a fine team move. Milltownpass responded with a goal of their own. Brian Maguire found the net again for Bun. Maguire followed this score with a point from distance. Luke Kiernan bound forward from wing back to extend Bun’s lead which was followed by a Caolán Fulham free.

Soon after Milltownpass responded with another goal before they tacked on 2 quick points. Noel Yourell scored a fine point from distance to bring the first half scoring to an end with the sides level on 2:04 to 2:04.

Playing against a strong wind in the second half Bun showed some great composure and doggedness throughout. Milltownpass scored 2 goals in the space of a minute which made it difficult for Bun but they fought back well with Aidan Finnan scoring two points from frees while Caolán Fulham scored another goal for Bun to bring the margin down to two points.

While ultimately very disappointed to lose this match, Bun can take a lot of positives from this defeat. Six players were handed their debuts from the start while another two players made their debuts from the bench in the second half. Matthew Hope, Luke Kiernan, Eoin McGowan, Daire McLaughlin, Cian Tighe and Brian O Hara all were named in the starting XV, while Patryk Kupferschmidt and Eoghan Murray both came on in the second half. All eight players acquitted themselves very well and they have a very bright future ahead in the blue and white.

Team: Alan Maguire, Conor Newman, Andy Whitney, Eoin McGowan, Matthew Hope, John Kiernan, Luke Kiernan, Noel Yourell, Caolán Fulham, Daire McLaughlin, Aidan Finnan, Cian Tighe, Ken Conroy, Brian Maguire & Brian O Hara. Subs Used: Patryk Kupferschmidt & Eoghan Murray.

We host St. Loman’s on Saturday next at 3:00pm. All support greatly appreciated.

Tax Relief on Donations

We are pleased to say there is a further fundraising opportunity for the Club following on from the generosity of the members, businesses and local donors over the past 12 months.

Our club is a recognised Approved Sports Body and our development is a project approved by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. If you are a PAYE worker and you donated to the Club in 2021 for the Astroturf Development, the Club can make an application to gross up that amount of the donation. In other words, the Club can get a refund of the tax on your donation.

If you are happy for the Club to make an application on your behalf or you have any further questions, then please text or email me, Colm McCormack (club treasurer) on 0863469664 or colm.m.mccormack@gmail.com and he will prepare the paperwork for you. More information can be found on www.revenue.ie
