All County Football League Division 3

We took on St. Loman’s on Sunday last in the second round of the league. Once again our younger players got an opportunity to build on their debuts last weekend and once again showed great promise. Despite an even first half, where St. Loman’s led by a point we were, unfortunately, on the wrong side of the result after a dominant second half from the visitors saw them win out on a scoreline of 3:17 to 2:03.

Bun started brightly with early goals from Brian Maguire and Ronan Scally. Points from Darragh Lyons and Aidan Finnan helped put us in a commanding position after 12 minutes. St. Loman’s came more and more into the game and started chipping away at the lead and would go into the break a point ahead.

Bun started the second half strongly and drew level when Kenny Conroy kicked a fine score with the outside of the boot. However, St. Loman’s took control from here on in and kicked an impressive 3:08 in the second half to ensure they were full value for the win.

Despite the disappointing result, our younger players continued to get valuable game time which will stand them in good stead come the summer while our more seasoned campaigners are showing great leadership as always in training as well as in the games.

Tax Relief on Donations

We are pleased to say there is a further fundraising opportunity for the Club following on from the generosity of the members, businesses and local donors over the past 12 months.

Our club is a recognised Approved Sports Body and our development is a project approved by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. If you are a PAYE worker and you donated to the Club in 2021 for the Astroturf Development, the Club can make an application to gross up that amount of the donation. In other words, the Club can get a refund of the tax on your donation.

If you are happy for the Club to make an application on your behalf or you have any further questions, then please text or email me, Colm McCormack (club treasurer) on 0863469664 or colm.m.mccormack@gmail.com and he will prepare the paperwork for you.
