Division 3 ACFL
We made the short journey to Ballynacargy on Sunday to take on the home team in Round 6 of the League. Ballynacargy ultimately proved the better team over the course of the hour and prevailed on a score line of 2:09 to 1:03.
Despite the defeat, Bun can be proud of the effort all the players put in. Each player put in great effort throughout the match and turned over plenty of the oppositions ball. Our new players continue to gain valuable experience at this level which will stand them in good stead as their adult careers progress.
Bal started brightly and were 1:03 to 0:00 up before Andy Whitney got Bun off the mark with a well worked score. Bal responded with two more points of their own. A well worked move from defence and some great runs off the shoulder led to a chance for Luke Kiernan but it was well saved but Caolan Fulham was on hand to mop up the rebound to kick a fine score.
The key score of the game came right from the throw in at the start of the second half. Bal cut through the Bun defence to score a goal and stretch the lead to 2:05 to 0:02. It was an uphill battle from there but Bun battled well. Caolan Fulham scored a goal after great tackling by the forwards.
Cian Tighe wrapped up Bun’s scores with a free after he was fouled right on the edge of the square. Bal kicked the final scores of the game to record a nine point win.
Team: Tommy Murphy, Eoin McGowan, Gavin Lyons, Eoghan Murray, Matthew Hope, Ronan Scally, John Kiernan, Noel Yourell, Andy Whitney, Luke Kiernan, Aidan Finnan, Mark Donnelly, Ken Conroy, Caolan Fulham, Kevin Mitchell.
