Our latest Rounders fixture was away to Dunderry on a blustery damp evening. Having faced this team in 2021 we knew that we were meeting a typical Meath team.
Dunderry batted first and got off to a good start holding us out field for 15 runs and quickly turned us out with just 2 runs at the end of the first innings.
A change of tactics in the second innings saw Dunderry with just 4 runs. However, they positioned themselves well and got us out before we could earn any runs in the second innings.
The third innings saw Dunderry get 5 runs with outs coming thanks to clever pitching and good fielding. We were under pressure and managed 4 runs with Liz McGovern coming off the field injured. Get well soon Liz.
With the score difference we kept batting through the 4th getting 2 runs and in 5th innings we dug deep and with 2 quick outs we still put 8 runs on the board, bringing the final scores to 16:24.
Special mentions to: our newest players Dermot Nangle, our supporters who travelled to cheer us on. We rounded off the evening with team building in Reillys Ballinalack.
Training Sun at 11am. All welcome.
