Inny Shamrocks U13s

On Tuesday 13th September, the large crowd in attendance in Bunbrosna were treated to a thrilling spectacle as Inny Shamrocks and Milltownpass faced off in the semi-final of the U13 Championship. This game featured breath-taking, end-to-end football and both teams are to be commended for their commitment and skill. Ultimately, it was Milltownpass who progressed to the final, courtesy of a late brace of scores to leave them ahead by one point at the final whistle. Best of luck to Milltownpass in the final.

A huge well done to both panels on the attitude and spirit displayed throughout, and thanks to the supporters who enjoyed some really good football from both teams.

Jack Britton-Keena provided another assured and composed display in the goals, pulling off a number of brave saves, in particular a top-class, point-blank save early in the first half which kept his team in the game. In the fullback line the indomitable Aiden Keane made a number of interceptions in the dying stages which helped keep his team in the game. Cathal Keena displayed his versatility when redeployed a to fullback, a smart move which paid dividends as he had another fine game, before surging forward in the second half, taking some very fine scores.

Adas Butkas provided great cover and fielding in the back line, tackling hard and reading the game expertly. John Lyons continues to grow in prominence with every display and his deployment in defence allowed him to tackle, harry opponents and carry the ball to great effect. Fionn Leslie was a rock at centre back, driving his team forward and providing real steel in heart of the defence. The teak tough Adam Coloe completed the defensive unit with another all-action display at wingback.

The powerful midfield combination of Tristan Jordan and Motiejius Racinskas have developed a great understanding and their tireless workrate and strength provided a strong platform for the impressive team display.

Liam Og Maxwell worked tirelessly at centre forward and provided a vital link between the defence and forward divisions, and his move into the full forward line saw him cause real problems for the Milltownpass defence. Jack Ledwith worked hard at wing-forward and made a number of intelligent runs throughout, his smart contributions a real asset to his team. The hard running and smart movement of Peadar Baird saw him give another performance showcasing his immense potential. At full forward Leo Penrose was a focal point for the attack and he proved a real handful for the opposition.

At corner forward Aidan Heduvan showcased his progression with a livewire and impressively skilful display. Sean Mahon has proven a real find and his speed, hard running and determination was huge asset to Inny Shamrocks as he selflessly set up scores for his teammates. Ryan Tormey’s introduction in the second half boosted the team and again his vision and selfless passing was a highlight of the game. Ben Forde was introduced early in the second half to good effect and worked hard throughout, getting himself into some very good positions.  Matthew Kelly was introduced in the second half and gave a hard-working display with some good interventions and pressing and always looked assured and composed.

No team reaches the levels the Inny Shamrocks U13s have achieved without real strength and depth within the panel. The contributions throughout the year, at training, in the successful league run and in this Championship from James Connolly, Oisin Keena, Mikey Lenehan, Jamie Goss, Cian Martin, Aidan Murtagh, and Lucas Ruisinger were key to the progression of the squad and the individual development shown by each of these players has been fantastic.

The development and progression of this team over the season has been a joy for the coaches, parents, guardians and spectators to watch. They have consistently worked hard for each other throughout the year, both in training and matches, and we are very proud of each of them. Thanks to all involved, including parents, guardians, and supporters.

A huge thank you to the hardworking and selfless coaches Ger Heduvan, Gordon Coloe, Alan Keena and Sean Walsh – they have worked tirelessly and given huge amounts of time throughout the whole year, and their patience, enthusiasm and ability were to the fore at every training session and match and without which this team could not have progressed so well – thank you all.

Inny Shamrocks Underage Tour

The Inny Shamrocks teams went on their end of season tour on Saturday 18th September and a brilliant and hugely enjoyable trip was had by all!

Our U13, U15, and U17 teams travelled to the National Sports Campus where 7 time All-Ireland winner Dean Rock ran a training and coaching session with each of our three teams.

A special thanks to Dean who was absolutely brilliant with our young players and who spoke in detail about all aspects of the game, answered the players' questions, posed for photographs and signed autographs and jerseys!

After training, the players went to nearby Aquazone to relax and let loose!!

This was a fantastic day out which our fantastic young footballers thoroughly deserved, in recognition of their brilliant effort and commitment throughout this season.

Thanks to Dean Rock, a truly inspiring person whose words of wisdom will motivate our young footballers to aim high in their football careers.

Thanks to everyone at the National Sports Campus and Aquazone who facilitated in every way and helped ensure the event was a success.

All at Inny Shamrocks GAA would like to thank all who contributed and helped to make this trip possible. A special note of thanks to those who generously sponsored the trip - thank you very much for your extraordinary generosity.
