ACFL Division 3

We travelled to Kilbeggan on Saturday last to take on the home side in Round 2 of the league. After getting one point from our opening game, we travelled with optimism in getting the two points on offer. After a tight hard fought game, Kilbeggan emerged victorious on a scoreline of 0-10 to to 0:08.

Despite losing the game, Bun played well in patches and created some good goal scoring opportunities but the Kilbeggan keeper was in good form and pulled off a number of fine saves. On another day, these chances would have rattled the net.

This game also saw the return to action of Conor Newman following a long injury lay off. Conor got through the sixty minutes comfortably in what is a great lift for him and the team.

We take on neighbours, Multy, in Round 3 on Sunday next. Throw in at Bun is at 11:30am and we would appreciate a large turn out of support.

Team: Alan Maguire, Conor Newman, Joe Tormey, Eoghan Murray, Matthew Hope, David Newman, Gavin Lyons, John Kiernan, Andrew Whitney, Finian Newman, Noel Yourell, Luke Kiernan, Ken Conroy, Brian Maguire & Barry O'Mara. Subs: Enda Newman for Brian Maguire, Cian Tighe, Eoin McGowan & Tommy Murphy.

Westmeath Senior Hurlers

Hard luck to the Westmeath hurlers on Sunday when they were defeated by Cork in the league. They put in a battling display as always but Cork pulled away in the last ten minutes. Well done to Shane McGovern who lined out at midfield and got himself on the score sheet with a fine effort from play.
