ACFL Division 6

We hosted Mullingar Shamrocks on Monday May 1st last in what was an ideal day for football. Bun started this game brightly and put together some fine passages of play to record quality points.

Finian Newman was first off the mark with a pointed free before Shamrocks equalised with a point of their own. Cian Tighe scored two quick fire frees to stretch Buns lead before Luke Kiernan scored a great point from play after a strong run. Shamrocks replied with two points before Tighe added another two frees, one which he won himself, after some good attacking play. At half time, Bun led 0:06 to 0:03.

Shamrocks were a different team in the second half and went about reducing the arrears. There was a lively pace to this game and while Bun played well in patches, some key turnovers went against them to put them under pressure. Shamrocks were able to bring in a mix of youth and experience from their bench which helped to turn the tide in this game.

Shamrocks got the first two scores of the half before Noel Yourell scored a good point from play for Bun. Shamrocks then scored the next six points to grab hold of the game and put them into a four point lead. Excellent points from Gavin Lyons and Fintan Finnan reduced the arrears before Shamrocks recorded the final score to win the game by three points.

Well done to Kevin Tormey who made his return to the club colours in this game. It was his first game for the club in over nine years.
