ACFL Division 3 vs The Downs
Bun travelled to The Downs on Thursday last to complete the league season. The Downs were a far stronger team on the night and came away with a comfortable victory. A couple of goals early in the first half put this game out of reach for Bun and despite fighting until the very end came away empty handed.
Bun did manage to work some good scores in this game with two good goals of their own. Ken Conroy got the first goal after some good work from Darragh Lyons while Dave Newman put a strong run in down the field to exchange passes with Garvan Dolan, Matt Hope and Brian Maguire, before Maguire rounded the keeper to finish to the net in what was an excellent move.
Matthew Hope, Noel Yourell and Darragh Lyons all kicked fine scores in the second half.
Bun now move into their preparations for Championship where they will face Moate in the 1st Round. Best of luck to all the players and management.
Team: Tommy Murphy, Gavin Lyons, Joe Tormey, Luke Kiernan, Matthew Hope, Andy Whitney, Ronan Scally, Noel Yourell, Simon Moorehead, Mark Donnelly, Garvan Dolan, Fintan Finnan, Ken Conroy, Darragh Lyons & Barry O’ Mara. Subs: Finian Newman for Ken Conroy, Dave Newman for Mark Donnelly, Conor Lyons for Darragh Lyons, Eoghan Murray for Gavin Lyons, Cian Tighe for Barry O’ Mara, Brian Maguire for Fintan Finnan.

Westmeath Senior Hurlers
Hard luck to Shane McGovern and the Westmeath Senior Hurlers on their heartbreaking relegation from the Leinster Senior Championship. Despite their heroic performance last week against Wexford, they were unable to claim victory against Antrim at the weekend and with Wexford narrowly beating Kilkenny, this meant Westmeath lost out on the head to head to see them in the Joe McDonagh Cup next year.
This has been a very good year for Westmeath hurling despite their relegation. They retained their Divison 1 status in the League for next year as well as beating Wexford for the first time since 1940 in the Championship. Their performances have shown they deserve to be playing top flight hurling. Well done to Shane and all involved and we have no doubt they will be better days ahead for this group.
Westmeath Camogie
Congratulations to Holly McCormack, Eva Cawley, Grace Bracken, Grace Downes and Claire Loughrey and the Westmeath U16 team who beat Armagh on Sunday 21st May in Round 2 of their All-Ireland Championship.
