Junior ‘B’ Championship
We hosted Caulry in the opening round of the Junior ‘B’ Championship on Tuesday evening last. Played in glorious sunshine on a great surface, Bun led this match from start to finish.
Fintan Finnan, Brian Maguire and Darragh Lyons had Buns first 3 points on the board before great work from Finnan and Lyons set Noel Yourell up for the first goal of the evening.
Garvan Dolan was next on the scoresheet with two superb points off his left foot which was soon followed by another point from Maguire.
Darragh Lyons told hold of the scoreboard then when he scored 1-4 before Dolan tacked on another point. Simon Moorehead burst forward from midfield to score a fine point before Lyons struck for another goal to leave the half time score 3:12 to 1:03 in Bun’s favour.
To their credit, Caulry responded well in the second half and kicked some excellent points. Darragh Lyons and Gavin Lyons had Buns first points of the half before Matthew Hope, Darragh Lyons and Brian Maguire raised the umpires white flags.
Brian Magire, Darragh Lyons, Cian Tighe and Gavin Lyons finished out the scoring to leave the full time score 3:21 to 1:12. This was a great performance from Bun and they will be pleased with the number of excellent points they kicked from play.
Team: Tommy Murphy, Eoghan Murray, Joe Tormey, Luke Kiernan, Matthew Hope, Gavin Lyons, Eoin McGowan, Simon Moorehead, Noel Yourell, Finian Newman, Garvan Dolan, Fintan Finnan, Darragh Lyons, Brian Maguire & Ken Conroy. GAA Go Games
A busy morning on Saturday last at the pitch when we hosted blitzes for U7, 9 & 11 age groups today. Many thanks to The Downs GAA Club and Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall GFC for travelling in great numbers.
Our U7s fielded two teams and featured some new players playing their first game of football and it was great to see them having such a good time.
Our U9s played two good games against opposition from the Downs and are developing with every outing. We fielded two teams at U11 and this group is going from strength to strength.
Many thanks to the players, coaches and parents for all of your efforts. Many thanks also to the wonderful club members who assisted with car parking and tea/coffee this morning. It takes a lot of help to run a blitz smoothly and your efforts were very much noted and appreciated by all of our visitors.
Condolences
All at Bunbrosna GAA wish to offer our sincere condolences to the Gunning and Tormey families, on the sad passing of Tom Gunning, Rathconrath.
To Deirdre, Damien, Anna, Aoife and Emma, May and Renée, extended family and many friends, we offer you all our deepest sympathies at this sad time.
