Club Lotto

Club Lotto will take place next Sunday at 12:00pm in the Old Dressing Rooms for anyone that would like to attend. Our Lotto Jackpot is now at a record €13,500. It continues to be our primary source of revenue to fund the day to day running of the club.

In addition, Lotto revenue is funding the continued development at the pitch which will benefit all in our community not just our players. Over the next number of months, our walking track will be near completion and work on the Ball-Wall and All-Weather playing area has been completed.

Our Lotto can be done online by clicking on https://bunbrosnagaa.clubifyapp.com/products. Online entries must be in by 10:00am. Thank you to all who support our club lotto.

Junior Championship Quarter Final

We travelled to Raharney on Saturday afternoon to take on St. Loman’s in the Quarter Final of the Junior Championship. The Raharney club must be commended for their excellent facilities, most notably the impressive surface that the game was played on.

Bun enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening stages but couldn’t make it count on the scoreboard. St. Loman’s enjoyed a purple patch in which they garnered four points on the bounce, two of which were excellent scores from distance.

Darragh Lyons did get Bun off the mark after Aidan Finnan was fouled. They followed this up with some neat interplay, which resulted in Barry O Mara narrowly missing a goal chance after an audacious lob over the St. Loman’s keeper.

The key score of the half arrived after Bun coughed up possession and St. Loman’s pounced for a goal. The goal led to an unfortunate injury for Alan Maguire who had to be replaced by Liam Mitchell in goals. St. Loman’s added the next points to take a firm hold of the game.

Much to their credit, Bun dug deep and dominated the final ten minutes of the half. A fine pass from Finnan found Ken Conroy in space, who slipped it to Noel Yourell. While a goal looked on initially Noel done well to shake off the defender to fire over. John Kiernan then ran right at the heart of the opposition defence to fire over a fine point after been played in by Aidan Finnan from the resultant kickout.

Darragh Lyons and Simon Moorehead added fine points to reduce the arrears even further. A free on the stroke of half time for St. Loman’s stalled momentum to leave the score 1:08 to 0:05 at the short whistle.

The second half was very frustrating from a Bun perspective as we enjoyed large periods of possession in attacking positions but luck was simply not on our side as we, incredibly, struck the crossbar three times.

St. Loman’s were clinical with their opportunities which was the key difference. Despite domination possession in the early stages of the half we couldn’t make it count on the score board. St. Loman’s were able to keep the score ticking over with frees and efforts from play.

Darragh Lyons and Barry O Mara kick a free and a mark which were our sole scores of the half but this didn’t do justice to the efforts of the Bun players. St. Loman’s got a fortuitous second goal when a long ball dipped just under the crossbar to close out the game. As the final whistle blew, our season came to a close.

Getting to a third county final in a row proved a step too far but we hope that the winter break will refresh minds, bodies and recharge the hunger to put the shoulder to the wheel for next season. For now, we thank the players and management for their efforts this season and wish them well for the winter.

Underage Blitz

Well done to our U7, U9 & U11 teams that played great football at a blitz in Athlone GAA on Saturday morning last. We attended along with teams from Milltownpass, Multyfarnham and Athlone. It was great to see our players attending in good numbers and with great enthusiasm.

As the season draws to a close in the coming weeks, the players are seeing the benefits of a great year on training. Many thanks to Athlone GAA for being great hosts. Onwards and upwards!

Inny Shamrocks U13

Well done to the Inny Shamrocks U13s who finished off the group stage of the championship with a hard earned win over Tubberclair in Tubberclair on Friday night. Up by 2 points at half time, the lads upped the intensity to pull away in the second half.

We now finish in the top two and qualify straight into the Semi Final in 2 weeks time. Well done players and coaches.
