Inny Shamrocks U13s Victorious

On Monday 30th May Inny Shamrocks U13s were crowned winners of their 2022 division League final after a thrilling final against a skilful and brave St Paul’s side.

This exceptional group have worked extremely hard this year so far and their hard work and effort, matched with their exceptional talent and skill, have seen them progress and continue to develop, as an attacking, free-flowing team.

The final was played in very damp conditions but this did not deter either team from providing the large crowd of spectators with a fast, skilful and exciting game of football.

Lucas Rusinger was a steady and assured presence as the Inny Shamrock’s custodian, and has shown his potential as goalkeeper of great promise throughout the year and again in this game. At corner back Aiden Keane made a number of excellent interceptions in his determined fashion. At full back the rock-solid Jack Britton-Keena gave a powerhouse display, while this defiant full back trio was completed by the tenacious, composed and skilful John Lyons.

At wing back Caelan O’Prey continues to develop as a strong and tough defender, and made a number of crucial interventions in the closing stages which were of vital importance to his team. Fionn Leslie covered every blade of grass assisting his defensive comrades from his role at centre-back, while demonstrating a growing ability to read the game which belies his young years and marks him out as a real talent.

Adam Coloe was solid, assured and yet tenacious at wing-back, drawing many compliments from onlookers on his fine performance.

At midfield the powerhouse display from Captain Tristan Boyce-Jordan was a crucial factor in the Inny Shamrocks win, and this is a player who takes the game by the scruff of the neck but who is only too happy to perform the hard work key to any top midfielder’s role. A player to watch.

Midfield also saw another powerhouse performance from Motiejius Racinkas, who has continued to develop throughout the year and showed his mettle and nerve for a big game by delivering arguably his finest performance in an Inny Shamrock jersey to date, winning primary possession and popping up all over the pitch.

At wing forward the tenacious and clever Adas Butkas worked hard and engineered his way into a game, constantly making himself available to his teammates to relieve pressure and passing forward selflessly.

At centre forward Cathal Keena displayed all the prowess and vision the very best centre-forwards possess, together with a work-rate that is second to none. Peadar Baird gave an eye-catching display of intelligent movement, incisive passing and displayed a toughness in the tackle that left opponents dazed.

Ben Forde was assured and intelligent at corner-forward, his athleticism and eye for goal helping him make an important contribution. Liam Og Maxwell was a constant menace at full forward, his speed, movement and skill helping him score a brace of goals and proved a huge contribution to his team’s success, and in the second half he demonstrated his versatility and willingness to sacrifice for his team as he dropped into a deeper role around midfield to assist his defence and link play to the forward unit.

At corner forward Aidan Heduvan was smart, decisive and skilful, his clever movement and eye for goal a huge asset to his team.

Leo  Penrose was introduced for the second half and made a significant contribution, his strength and aerial threat proving very hard for St Paul’s to contain. He won a huge amount of possession and selflessly off-loaded to other players, assisting in several scores in this way.

Jack Ledwith was introduced to very good effect also, putting a strong performance of running and excellent link -up play. James Connolly also came on to bolster his side’s defensive effort and served that purpose very well, his speed and ability to read the game helping him put in another fine performance.

This League final success was only made possible by the strength and depth of the Inny Shamrock’s panel and the contributions throughout the year, both in matches and at training, of Mikey Lenehan, Jayden Killian, Matthew Kelly, Aidan Murtagh, Cian Martin, Jamie Goss, Ryan Tormey, Daniel Horohoe and others. Well done lads!
