Bunbrosna v St Malachy’s
On Sunday last,in excellent conditions Bunbrosna travelled to Tang to play St Malachy’s in Round 3 0f this year’s championship. Large crowds decended on the GAA grounds for the first match in the double header at the venue.
Bunbrosna settled in quickly to the task at hand and Andrew Whitney slotted over the opening score after four minutes Two minutes later Peter Tormey scored a point after a lovely pass from Kenny Conroy . Next came a lovely score which began with a long pass from Ronan Scally to Peter Tormey which Peter flicked to the oncoming Barry O Mara who made sure the white flag raised again .
At the end of the first quarter Kenny Conroy slotted over our fourth point after a play involving Aidan Finnan ,Peter Tormey and Niall Spain. Garvan Dolan slotted over point number 5
Fintan Finnan replaced Fintan Connaughton around the twentieth minute.
With five minutes to go in the first half Peter Tormey again slotted over from an excellent Conor Newman pass .In injury time Peter again scored a fine point and Garvan Dolan converted on the brink of the half time whistle leaving us one point ahead at the interval. Bunbrosna 0-8 St Malachy’s 0-7
Bunbrosna opened the second half with two excellent Peter Tormey points in the opening few minutes. The next two scores belonged to St Malachys Garvan Dolan slotted over in the 10th minute and Peter Tormey did likewise in the 12th following a lovely pass from Fintan Finnan.
Mark Donnelly replaced Niall Spain in the thirteenth minute and Peter Tormey again slotted over at the half way stage. A converted free in the 20th minute saw St.Malachy’s come within 2 points of Bunbrosna .
On the stroke of 25 minutes St Malachy’s were robustly denied further progress in their quest for goal. This rebuttal resulted in the referee awarding a penalty to the Castletown side which struck the post and trickled harmlessly wide . Relief all around for the Bunbrosna supporters!!
Noel Yourell replaced Andrew Whitney and Kevin Mitchell replaced Kenny Conroy in the26th minute.
St Malachy’s scored two points ,one from a free and all was square deep into injury time. Bunbrosna had not finished yet and in the final minute Fintan Finnan scored an exquisite point to the loud cheers of the large Bunbrosna contingent present. The final whistle blew and Bunbrosna emerged victorious.

Rounders
A great display of rounders was put on during the hurling semi final Sunday on Sunday week last, with our players Eoin Kevin and Valerie all batting well and represented the club on the ultimate playing field. New players welcome especially underage as we prepare for the underage competitions in September. Practice continues Saturday evenings at 6.
Underage Rounders 14th Sept u10 & u8 blitz. 15th Sept U13 boys / U14 mixed / U15 girls. Champions cup. Sign in sheet in old clubhouse for this and Senior challenge match on 21st Sept Venue and time to be confirmed . Practice next Saturday at 6 as usual.
