Junior Championship Semi Final

Our Championship journey continued on Saturday evening last in Ballynacargy against a youthful St Loman’s side in the second of the day’s Junior Championship semi-finals.

Bunbrosna opened the scoring with Daragh Lyons slotting over a fine point from a free .St. Loman’s replied with two points in quick succession. Bunbrosna’s next score came from a side-line ball collected by Finian Newman who passed it to Peter Tormey who in turn found Barry O Mara who promptly delivered it to the back of the St Loman’s net.

Minutes later Mark Donnelly was unlucky not to have scored Bun’s second goal as his shot rebounded off the goal post. At the first water break Bunbrosna led by 1-1 to 0-2

On resumption, St.Loman’s piled on the pressure, but Bunbrosna backs held firm and with some excellent goalkeeping from Tommy Murphy, St Loman’s had several wides and only one point in the remainder of the first half while Bunbrosna notched up a further three points courtesy of Daragh Lyons, a free from Peter Tormey and a point from play from Mark Donnelly. The half time score was Bun 1-04 St Loman’s 0-03.

The beginning of the second half saw St. Loman’s again pile on the pressure but Bunbrosna defence withstood attack after attack conceding only one point. Barry O Mara added a further two points for Bun before the second water break.

As the play moved from end to end, scores were scarce with each side adding two points to their tally before the end. Both Bunbrosna scores came from play with Aidan Finnan and Ronan Scally finding the target to leave the score Bunbrosna 1-08 to 0-06 for St Loman’s.

November is a busy month for Bunbrosna GAA club. Our footballers contest the County Final on November 13th and Bunbrosna Scór contest the All-Ireland final in Claremorris on November 20th. Let us all show our appreciation and delight by flying the Blue and White flags and bunting from our houses and our business premises.

To further encourage our decorating there will be a number of prizes for the best decorated properties in the area. It is also hoped to have a Poster and Window Display competition for our younger members.

So let your imagination run wild and join in the excitement as we prepare for these two finals.

Even if you’ve never kicked a ball before it’s a great way to keep the fitness up over the Winter and it’s also a great social outlet for all involved. Come along and give it a go. Contact bung4mo@gmail.com for more details or WhatsApp 0877672529
