ACFL Division 3
We hosted Multy in Round 8 of the League on Thursday evening last. The game was played in glorious sunshine and an entertaining game was played out for the large crowd in attendance.
Multy started brightly and had the first two scores of the game to raise white flags before Darragh Lyons kicked a fine score from distance.
An Aidan Finnan two pointed free from the ground cancelled out a Multy score at the opposite end. Darragh Lyons was on target again from a free before Ronan Scally made his customary run from corner back to fire over from play. Multy would take an 0:08 0:06 lead into the dressing rooms at half time.
The resumption in play after half time saw Bun start at lightning pace and Darragh Lyons fired over from 35 yards before he was again on target from closer in and with a goal on his mind, his shot grazed the top of the bar to leave one between the teams after Multy responded quickly with a point from play.
Another Multy score left two in it mid way through the second half when the big turning point happened. Multy were awarded a penalty but Liam Mitchell pulled off a fantastic save to his right to deny the travelling side from extending their lead. From the resulting save, Bun went down the field and kicked a fine point of their own from Aidan Finnan to leave one in it.
The introduction of Barry O Mara and Matt Hope were crucial to Bun’s second half performance. Both were keen to get on the ball and drive their team on as they returned from injury.
As the clock entered the 57th minute Multy held a two point lead but Bun weren’t finished yet. Firstly, Matt Hope got on the end of a fine move to fire over to leave the minimum between the sides. O Mara then done well to break a high delivery to set up Lyons to fire over his sixth point of the evening.
As the game entered injury time, John Kiernan won a crucial break from a throw in by referee Sean Carroll. Kiernan found Mark Donnelly in space who laid it off to Luke Kiernan who fired over the lead score from thirty five yards. It was the final play of the game as Sean Carroll blew the full time whistle on the resulting kickout.

ACFL Division 7
We hosted Caulry in Division 7 of the League on Sunday. Played in glorious sunshine both teams are to be commended for the brilliant game of football. The final score ended in a draw 1:22 to 4:13.
Played in a 13 a side format, defenders were always going to be facing an uphil battle but both sets of defences enjoyed periods of dominance. Conor Newman and Luke Kiernan made some great interceptions in the first half.
At the other end, Darragh Lyons was on fire and would finish the game with 1:09. He was ably supported by Cian Tighe, who scored the only two pointer of game, which saw him end up with five points to his name.
Oisin Finn and Conor Scally put in big performances throughout the game and they can be very pleased with their efforts. Conor got on great ball from wing back while Oisin put in Trojan work at wing forward.
Caulry took their goal chances superbly and they would provide the platform for them. However, Bun were not to be undone and fought back from five points down on three separate occasions in the second half. Luke Kiernan moved to wing forward at half time and would score three crucial points in the second half.
Eoin McGownan, captain for the day, drove the team on with some key interceptions while the returning Matt Hope, made powerful runs through the middle on numerous occasions. Andy Whitney also made his return to the team for the final 15 minutes and his experience was crucial during this time. Jonny Nolan also played a pivotal role at centre back and was particularly prominent in the final twenty minutes.
Gordon Medforth and Enda Newman worked very well together in midfield and made tireless efforts to keep the team attacking at every opportunity. Darragh McCormack, when introduced, kept the full back line of Caulry on their toes with some intelligent runs.
All in all this was a very good performance from the lads. They refused to accept defeat and will feel a little unlucky not to grab both points on the day.
Team: Tommy Murphy, Conor Newman, Luke Kiernan(0-3), Conor Scally (Andy Whitney), Jonny Nolan, Mark Donnelly (0-4)
Gordon Medforth, Enda Newman, Oisin Finn, (Darragh McCormack), Mattie Hope (0-1), Eoin McGowan, Cian Tighe (0-5) & Darragh Lyons (1-9).
